Live Projects/Internship

At the Institute of Advanced Finance (IAFI), we recognise that knowledge is incomplete without an understanding of the practical application of the underlying concepts. As a candidate, a live project with IAFI will give you a firm grasp of the key principles and will instil a sound appreciation of the classroom discussions you have been through. At the same time, prospective employers will value your project work highly and are likely to place you in positions within capital markets that are related to your project.

The live project or internship will be under a senior industry professional (typically with work experience in excess of five years in your chosen area) who will act as your mentor. Intensive discussions will take place between you and the mentor along with some designated IAFI faculty on topics related to your project such as industry analysis, equity research, credit research, product valuation, competitive situation, management strategy, etc. The project duration will be between three to six months depending on the subject matter. Principal outputs at the end of the project tenure such as industry profiles and valuation reports authored by you will be prominently placed on our website for easy referencing by prospective employers.

We offer opportunities for project work or internships for three tracks:

Students of finance
Students pursuing graduation in finance and seeking challenging and rewarding careers in capital markets are strongly encouraged to strengthen their profile by pursuing a live project or internship at IAFI. This will include students of programs such as MBA, CA/CS/ICWAI, B.Com/M.Com, BE/BTech, BBM/BBA etc with finance/economics as one of the majors.

The project work or internship will help you stand out of the crowd when facing prospective employers by showing your commitment towards capital market roles. In interviews, questions are likely to be concentrated on your project work giving you an opportunity to impress the interviewer in your area of strength. Employers are more likely to place you in positions similar to those of your project as they will have the necessary confidence in your knowledge and application.

Non-industry professionals
Candidates with 1-5 years of experience in domains other than capital markets domain (such as Accounting, Taxation, IT, Telecom, Retail, etc) but very desirous of a career change or pursuing higher studies in finance can take advantage of our live projects or internships to hone their skills in capital markets. Our intensive project work under the expertise of senior industry professionals and IAFI faculty will enable you to develop a deep appreciation of the core concepts of finance. It will also help signal to the market your commitment towards a career in finance along with demonstrating the applications already mastered.

Finance professionals
Finance industry professionals with 1-5 years of experience desirous of making a shift to more analytical roles such as research or trading can take up our project work/internship to master their desired area while continuing to work in their current role. The intensive project work under the guidance of industry experts and IAFI faculty members will prepare you to face with confidence roles such as equity research analyst, fixed-income analyst, equity trader, investment banking associate, etc. We believe that a project work or internship with IAFI will show not only your understanding of the core concepts but also highlight your grasp in translating theoretical understanding to practical application.
